Foods That Boost Your Mood!

On Sundays I like to research nutritional info and share with the members. With the changing weather...some people can feel more isolated leading to changes in their mood. Depression is a serious topic and any changes to your mood should be discussed with your health professional. What you eat and how much sleep you get are also important factors that affect your mood!

Foods high in Omega 3, B6 and Folate can help Boost your mood because they influence the brain's happy-making neurotransmitters and lessen inflammation in the brain that can result in damage to brain cells.

1) Increase your Omega 3 intake weekly!! It is recommended to consume fish 2-3 times a week. Fish such as Salmon, Tuna, Herring, and sardines are high in Omega 3. If you are not a fish eater, try to take a daily fish oil supplement daily

2) Increase your B6 intake. Deficiency in B6 can lead to fatigue and depression. Yellow-fin Tuna, salmon, dried crimini mushrooms, and flaxseeds are all high in B6.

3) Increase your Folate Intake. It is recommended that adults have 400 mg of Folate a day in their diet. Whole-grain cereals are fortified with a daily serving of folate. Chickpeas and lentils are also high in Folate!
